NEW SONG!

We finally got a new song up on the website. "THROWIN THE BONES" is a fresh mix of a song weve had for awhile. Its a song inspired by a dream i once had while dozing in my lazyboy. The chair lifted up in the air carrying me thru the room.. out the door and down the street. When i leaned back it immediately transported me into the sky on a gorgeous summer afternoon. The view was breathtaking...and the lazyboy handled beautifully. It was pure blissful fun! I eventually landed in the ocean near a tropical island...and yes the chair then became a boat and brought me right up to one of those bars that are in the water. I didnt realize till later that many of the other people there.. who i didnt recognize.. were skeletons with clothes on. Hows that for a dream!
Hope u enjoy . MJ

The Perfect Song

When most people hear a song the first time...they hear what they have conditioned themselves to hear. Some gravitate to the melody or words and voice. Many just pick up on the beat or groove then move on. How sound effects your brain seems quite individual. I think songwriters and musicians hear things differently. We can hear the whole and the parts and then bring them in and out. Sometimes its a conscious thing..sometimes not. I think its why so many times when a musician is asked for their favorite things to listen to or influences...they give what seems like obscure artists or references. Its because they are attracted to something in the music maybe others are not hearing. Or they are challenged by something. Finally, the only way to truly hear a song is to crawl inside it. Unplug from everything and focus on it. Most of the time especially nowdays...its just background for whatever. Go in next time you really like a song...get inside it. MJ

Its off to the land of enchantment this coming weekend! Time for some peace, serenity, and beautiful natural scenery. Its just outside Albuquerque this time around...a little higher up and close to the national park there in the Sandia area. If you ever get a chance go visit Sandia Peak...Its 10,600 ft up. Beautiful view. I love the excitement that comes when you're getting ready to travel. The challenge of packing ....the ideas that float in and out leading up to leaving. The thought you may actually discover something....something you might of overlooked before. Something about yourself or someone else. The reminder that wherever you go...there you are. That it is not so much the going that is the most important thing....but that you open up , refresh the screen and become conscious and aware of life. Hope to put new free downloads up on the site soon...we just want them to sound good!. Tryin to keep a certain standard with what we put out. Thanks for stopping by..Love MJ

The last 3-4 days have had beautiful Springtime sun and moderate evenings. It shifts me to being outdoors and i reacquaint with my senses. Love when that happens. WE ALL need to be cracked open from time to time. Nature helps me do that. I had my itunes playing in the background and "Everything Heals" came on (from our recent Album). I think that song should be listened to when you're outside. Just a thought. Try it. We continue to work hard on new projects. Enjoy the spring. Find some time to Quiet down and breathe it in.
I keep forgettng if he's supposed to see his shadow and that's a good thing....or if its good that he doesn't. Anyway, it's a wintery Feb. day. How about TOM PETTY and the HEARTBREAKERS. G You cannot see a better live band. I've seen them twice and it's unforgettable. Why oh why did T.P's last album not sell well or chart? "(Highway Companion)" Great songs. Speaking of great songwriting on recent albums...the EAGLES have some great stuff on "long road out of eden". There are lots of good things happening out there in music. You just have to look. Try and support quality! I know thats the whole "different strokes for different folks" deal....but come on...more people vote for American Idol than vote in the presidential election. Does anyone realise that it's not even original music? YOU'VE HEARD IT BEFORE. In most cases MUCH BETTER! Open up to what is happening originally in good sound artists. Grab a hold of someone out there before the world knows about em. What ever happened to that? There's no better feeling than finding something that no one else knows about. Be original.

Lately ive been looking around for interesting sounds to use on our new recordings. While exploring early electronica...stuff from the 30s40s50s, I was just amazed at what these innovators were doing. If anyone has ever seen early horror movies or flying saucer alien creature stuff like "The day the earth stood still"...The intruments used to make those strange haunting sounds were the "Theremin, Nova-chord, and even the early hammond b3. Wonderful other worldly sounds. Do a google search and find some recordings. Hopefully, we can duplicate some of these sounds for the upcoming set of songs. See ya, MJ

Beautiful time of year. Always a very reflective time for me. Wanted to thank everyone who might of voted for us on Pittradio.net for the "spotlight" position on their homepage. And while im thanking, A huge thanks to D'Ann Brown who has made so many things possible. She is always thinking of some way to reach someone somewhere with the music. The website..many websites we are currently on...all from her original creative self. She also has designed a postcard as a handout that we will be distributing soon. She is inspiring. She keeps me reaching for my best. I hope this is a great season for everyone. We need some positive things to happen in this world! Make it a better place wherever you are. Thanks, MJ

"Dont bring me down"

A lot of people seem to like the song "Don't bring me down"....from our recent album. It's interesting because we were unsure about including it. We thought it was a good song ...but we had lost the 16 track recording and only had a 2 track Steve managed to put together. Anyway, the song came from what i like to do when I'm searching or just needing to get out of the room and see something different. There are open places here in northern indiana....and yes cornfields and long rows of soybeans. Some nights are so soft and beautiful that it seems songs come thru the jeep window. To me, open places and long drives are spiritual. So, after a long night of driving and listening i came home to a wonderful sunrise and wrote the basic idea of the song. I hope it connects somehow.....We have a current song "Throwing my bones around" that i think will flow this way. We'll put a short preview of it on the website soon. See ya, MJ
